Penquis Ride to Health program. Penquis will provide individuals in Penobscot and Piscataquis counties who are diagnosed with cancer direct access to transportation for cancer treatment, eliminating the transportation barrier for individuals who don't own a vehicle, can't drive, don't have access to public transportation, or cannot afford to pay for a taxi.
Volunteer Drivers will be reimbursed to provide rides in their private vehicles. This option is most appropriate for individuals who do not have family or friends available to drive them and who live in rural areas and/or do not live near the bus route in the Bangor area.
Agency Vehicles are often the best option for individuals in wheelchairs and individuals who have a difficult time getting in private vehicles.
Taxi rides will be arranged when the need cannot be met by any other option.
