Transportation Option for Cancer Treatment Available in Knox CountyFebruary 10, 2016
Rockland, ME- Penquis announces a new transportation option available to individuals for accessing cancer treatment. Knox County residents needing transportation assistance for the medical treatment of cancer may receive rides or mileage reimbursement to their appointments. Rides are provided by Coastal Transportation or volunteer drivers, who pick individuals up at their homes and take them to treatment. If a person provides their own transportation, or if a friend or family member transports them, the program reimburses the driver 21 cents per mile. This service is offered by Penquis in partnership with Pen Bay Hospital and the Harold Alfond Center for Cancer Care. There is no cost and no income requirement for eligibility. Funding is provided by the Susan G. Komen Foundation of Maine and the John T. Gorman Foundation. For more information call Penquis Lynx Mobility Services at 973-3695 or 1-866-853-5969.
