Rape Response Services
The mission of Rape Response Services is to offer hope, understanding, support, and advocacy to victims of sexual assault and their significant others, and to educate the communities of Penobscot and Piscataquis counties about all aspects of this violent crime.
Rape Response Services provides support for people affected by rape, incest, childhood sexual abuse or sexual harassment. Services include a 24-hour helpline, support groups, school based prevention programs, accompaniment to medical and legal appointments, training and education, and follow up services for extra support and assistance through the healing process.
Rape Response Services strives to create an atmosphere of non-violence by pursuing a mission of social change. We believe in a comprehensive vision of sexual violence prevention which balances both a responsibility to individuals affected by sexual violence, as well as to society as a whole. We believe that recognition of the connection between sexism and sexual violence is vital to our social change efforts. RRS works to support and encourage an end to all forms of oppression, and view this as an essential part of our efforts to eradicate sexual violence and create lasting, positive social change.

We fully support an individual's freedom to make reproductive choices and to have access to all reproductive services. RRS is committed to empowering survivors and eliminating sexual violence.
