Child Abuse and Neglect Prevention Councils

The Penquis Child Abuse and Neglect Prevention Councils advocate for the safety and welfare of children in Penobscot and Piscataquis Counties. The Councils promote positive family and community approaches to keeping children safe from abuse and neglect.

●  trainings, such as workshops and seminars for parents, community groups and professionals to teach strategies for preventing and responding to child abuse and neglect and recertification trainings for teachers

public awareness efforts, including conferences and informational packets to increase public and professional awareness of child abuse and neglect issues

●  advocacy through the use of newspaper articles and public service announcements to educate the general public and policy makers about public policy issues affecting children

●  collaboration with a wide range of agencies to improve the effectiveness of prevention efforts.
