Electrical Utility Assistance - assists income-eligible households in managing electricity costs through special discounts or credits.
Lending and Financial Services - through MaineStream Finance (NMLS #987271), a Penquis subsidiary, individuals can obtain foreclosure counseling, mortgage refinancing, small business planning and training, and other useful services.
Low-income Home Energy Assistance Program (LiHEAP) - covers a portion of the participant's home heating costs. Eligibility is based on household size and income, energy costs, and other factors.
SafeLink Wireless Phone Program - SafeLink Wireless makes wireless telephone service more affordable by offering qualified customer a free SafeLink Wireless phone and up to 250 free monthly minutes with no commitments, contracts, or bills.
For those looking for additional assistance beyond what Penquis provides, we suggest checking with the Penobscot County Transition Team. Penquis is one of the founding members of the Team which was established following several major layoffs in the region in 2004. The Team's mission is to help laid-off workers secure new jobs, obtain additional education & training, and take advantage of the many community resources available to them.
