Penquis, a social services agency serving Penobscot, Piscataquis, and Knox counties for nearly 50 years, seeks a Senior Staff Accountant to join its corporate fiscal team.  Duties include contract management, budget analysis, annual budget preparation assistance, internal and external financial reporting and analysis, as well as other accounting duties typical of a large non-profit agency.

The successful candidate will have the ability to work independently, show initiative, provide leadership, prioritize multiple projects, meet deadlines, and thrive in a fast-paced diversified workplace. Requirements include a Bachelors Degree in Accounting, at least 5 years experience in a busy accounting office, and excellent spreadsheet and word processing skills, including experience in computer based accounting applications. Experience is preferred in financial statement preparation, footnote disclosure and 990 nonprofit tax return preparations. As required by business necessity, upon hire and periodically thereafter, must have clean background checks through the State Bureau of Investigation and the National Sex Offender Public website. Must not have an active record on the System for Award Management (SAM) website.
