Financial Analyst

Penquis, a dynamic $46M+ social services agency serving Penobscot, Piscataquis and Knox Counties for 50 years, is seeking a full-time (40 hrs/wk, 52 wks/yr; benefits eligible) Financial Analyst to work in its Central Accounting Office in Bangor.   You assist the Chief Financial Officer, Fiscal Services Director and Accounting Manager in all functional areas and have primary responsibility for financial contract management and reporting. You assist in monthly preparation of financial statements, monthly budget report analysis, and audit preparation and assistance. You work closely with the fiscal staff and senior program staff to ensure that all contract budgets are accurate. You report to the departmental staff and the Chief Financial Officer on the progress of contract budgets vs. actual expenditures.

The successful candidate will have the ability to work independently, show initiative, provide leadership, prioritize multiple projects, meet deadlines, and thrive in a fast-paced diversified workplace.  Requirements include a Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting, at least 5 years experience in a busy accounting office, and excellent computer skills, including experience in computer-based accounting applications, as well as spreadsheet and word processing programs. Experience with Abila – MIP Software is preferred. As required by business necessity, upon hire and periodically thereafter, must have clean background checks through the State Bureau of Investigation and the National Sex Offender Public website. Must not have an active record on the System for Award Management (SAM) website.
