Dispatcher II

Penquis, a social services agency serving Penobscot, Piscataquis, and Knox counties for 50 years, is recruiting for a full time (40 hrs/wk; benefits eligible) Dispatcher II to work in its Transportation Brokerage office based in Bangor.  Position requires the ability to work flexible hours from 6:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m., Monday through Friday. We are looking for an energetic person with strong analytical skills who is familiar with road systems in Penobscot and Piscataquis counties to join our team of Dispatchers. A high school diploma or equivalent and 3 years of work experience including two years of office work that involves customer contact and data entry in a Windows environment are required. Good telephone communication skills, keyboard skills, and the ability to successfully interact with the public and with health professionals are needed. The successful candidate will be able to remain calm and productive in a fast paced environment. Preference will be given to applicants with previous dispatching experience, demonstrated excellent decision making skills, experience working with families, and previous experience with federal and state regulations. Ideal candidate must be able to pass pre-employment drug testing and be willing to submit to random drug and alcohol testing thereafter. As required by business necessity, upon hire and periodically thereafter, must have clean background checks through the State Bureau of Investigation, Maine Department of Human Services, and/or Maine Bureau of Motor Vehicles which indicate no previous record of involvement with child abuse, neglect or exploitation and no disqualifying criminal record or motor vehicle record as outlined in the current contract provisions. Must not have an active record on the System for Award Management (SAM) website. This position starts at $11.90/hr.
