Project Coordinator - Lead Hazards

Penquis, a social services agency serving Penobscot, Piscataquis, and Knox counties for 50 years, is recruiting for the above full-time (40 hrs/wk; benefits eligible) position in our Housing and Energy Services Department.  Based in Bangor, the successful candidate will be responsible for managing Penobscot, Piscataquis, Knox and Waldo Counties’ Lead Hazard activities. Primary duties include lead inspections, lead clearances and project designs for both residential and commercial properties requiring lead abatement services; writing technical specifications; and managing construction projects. Daily travel throughout Penobscot, Piscataquis, Knox and Waldo Counties is required.   Additional travel to other counties required as needed.  Insured, reliable transportation is required with business travel reimbursement.

 

Position requires a high school diploma or equivalent; minimum 5 years previous work experience in Lead hazard activities for commercial and residential structures; proven success on projects requiring attention to detail; excellent verbal and written communication skills; computer proficiency with word processing and spreadsheet programs; and the ability to manage multiple abatement projects simultaneously.  Preference will be given to candidates with an Associates Degree in Building Construction or related field; previous experience with building inspections, technical specifications, building codes, Lead certifications and a Housing Quality Standard Inspector Certification. As required by business necessity, upon hire and periodically thereafter, must have clean background checks through the State Bureau of Investigation, the National Sex Offender Public website and the Department of Motor Vehicles. Must not have an active record on the System for Award Management (SAM) website. Starting pay for this position is $14.99/hour.
