Visit Support Worker

Do you enjoy supporting families?  Are you a substitute teacher looking for a new adventure, a BHP with some day time availability, in need of some supplemental income, or have more free time in the summer months?


The Penquis Family Visit Program for Penobscot and Piscataquis Counties is currently seeking per-diem Visit Support Workers, in our Bangor, Lincoln, and Dover-Foxcroft offices. The program provides supportive visitation for families working toward family reunification in a safe and supportive environment for family visits, building on the strengths of individual family members and assisting with resources and tools to enhance parenting skills and promote positive parent and child interactions.


The Visit Support Worker will supervise visits between children and their families, providing parent education, support to children and their parents, and ensuring compliance with program policies and procedures.


Applicants must be 21 years of age, have a high school diploma/GED and experience working with children and families. Must have reliable transportation to travel between the Penquis offices and transport children, as needed.  Must have the ability to work flexible hours including some weekends and evenings. Must have computer experience and proficiency, as well as strong written, verbal, and organizational skills.  Experience providing supervised visitation is a plus. As required by business necessity, upon hire and periodically thereafter, must have clean background checks through the State Bureau of Investigation, Maine Department of Human Services, and/or Maine Bureau of Motor Vehicles which indicate no previous record of involvement with child abuse or crimes against a person, no record of OUI within 5 years, no record of probation or parole within 10 years, and must have no criminal or juvenile restraining orders within 10 years. Must not have an active record on the System for Award Management (SAM) website.
