Forensic Interviewer

The Penquis Children’s Advocacy Center (CAC), with an office in Bangor, seeks a dynamic individual to work as a full-time (40 hours/week; benefit eligible) Forensic Interviewer.  CAC’s are facility-based programs which provide an effective, multi-disciplinary, child-centered approach to child sexual abuse investigation.  The Forensic Interviewer will be responsible for providing forensic interviews of children that are timely, legally sound, trauma-informed and comply with best practices.  The Forensic Interviewer will act in accordance with all policies, protocols and national accreditation standards and will help the CAC to achieve and maintain accreditation.  The Forensic Interviewer will work closely with members of our multi-disciplinary team including law enforcement and child protective services. The successful candidate will help to coordinate monthly multi-disciplinary team advisory committee meetings and monthly case review. The Forensic Interviewer will work together with other CAC staff to conduct community outreach and education and to assure that families and children served at the CAC experience positive outcomes.

 

The Forensic Interviewer will also work closely with Rape Response Services (RRS), a subsidiary of Penquis. The Forensic Interviewer will complete advocate training at RRS and provide direct services to clients with some on-call shifts required including weekends. The Forensic Interviewer will help to create a coordinated community response to meet the needs of those affected by sexual violence.

 

Training will be provided but prior experience as a Forensic Interviewer is preferred. This position is anticipated to start on July 3, 2017 with mandatory out of state training the week of July 24th

 

Applicants must have a high school diploma and at least five years of related experience proving direct supports to clients. A Bachelor’s Degree in Social Work, Human Services or a related field and at least one year of experience are preferred. Also required are knowledge of child development, a personal philosophy in keeping with the program’s goals and objectives, and an understanding of clinical, legal and/or political issues related to sexual assault.  Entry level salary range for this position is $14.99 per hour.

 

As required by business necessity, upon hire and periodically thereafter, must have clean background checks through the State Bureau of Investigation and Maine Department of Human Services. Must not have an active record on the System for Award Management (SAM) website.
