Penquis, a diverse $48M+ social services agency serving Penobscot, Piscataquis and Knox Counties for 50 years, is seeking a full-time, dynamic (40 hrs/wk, 52 wks/yr; benefits eligible) Fiscal Services Director to work in its Central Accounting Office in Bangor.  You assist the Chief Financial Officer by overseeing all functional areas of the accounting department, grant accounting and reporting, purchasing, and financial report preparation to funding sources.  You work with the Chief Financial Officer to strengthen internal accounting controls, encourage sound budgeting practices, provide research and analysis, monitor contracts, coordinate the annual financial and compliance audit, and assist the Agency with financial solutions.  You work closely with the Chief Financial Officer, Chief Executive Officer, Chief Operating Officer, Chief Administrative Officer, Department Directors and Division Managers to ensure a smooth running fiscal office in support of agency requirements and programs providing direct service to clients.

 

The successful candidate will have the ability to work independently, show initiative, provide leadership, prioritize multiple projects, meet deadlines, and thrive in a fast-paced diversified workplace.  Requirements include a Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting and 10 years related experience in a busy accounting office, and excellent written and oral communication skills. As required by business necessity, upon hire and periodically thereafter, must have clean background checks through the State Bureau of Investigation, Maine Department of Health and Human Services and the National Sex Offender Public website. Must not have an active record on the System for Award Management (SAM) website.
