Development Coordinator

Penquis, the largest community action organization in Maine serving Penobscot, Piscataquis and Knox counties for 50 years, is expanding its Development Office by creating a new position for a Development Coordinator in the Bangor Office.  This is an opportunity for a professional to grow into a significant role within a highly respected organization.

 

As a Development Coordinator, you provide grant writing, resource development, and public information assistance to all Penquis departments. Working in concert with agency staff, you will develop new projects from concept through proposal submission and award notification. You are responsible to the Development Director for writing and presenting proposals, for resource identification and research, and for fundraising. You also work to promote the agency and its wide array of services.

 

Ideal candidates should have:

  • a bachelor's degree; two to four years of successful professional experience in a similar position, including grant writing, development/fundraising and public relations; or the equivalent in related education and successful professional experience in a similar position; or a CFRE,
  • excellent written and verbal communication skills,
  • computer proficiency primarily in the Microsoft and Adobe suites,
  • availability to work occasional evenings and weekends, and
  • reliable means of transportation.

 

Upon hire and periodically thereafter, must have background check results that are satisfactory to Penquis and indicate no previous or current record of involvement with child abuse, neglect or exploitation and no disqualifying criminal record or motor vehicle record as outlined in current contract provisions.
