Penquis, a social services agency serving Penobscot, Piscataquis, and Knox counties for 50 years has a part time Child Achievement Coach opening in the Bangor area.

 

 

24 hours/52 weeks (benefits eligible)

Possible additional 16 hours as classroom support

 

                            

This position works as part of a team focused on a two-generation approach to address the needs of both vulnerable children and their parents. Provides supportive home visiting to parents and coaching in child development strategies with children to assure a spectrum of needs are met, to include safe home environments, healthy growth and development, and strong parent/child bonds. Minimum education requirements are an Associate’s Degree in Social Work, Nursing, Health Education, Child Development, Psychology, or other related field. Five years’ experience working in a related field. Informed and empathetic to the dynamics of poverty with a working knowledge of area resources. Excellent written and verbal communication skills are required with computer proficiency and experience, including word processing skills. Must have reliable and insured transportation. Upon hire and periodically thereafter, must have background check results that are satisfactory to Penquis and indicate no previous or current record of involvement with child abuse, neglect or exploitation and no disqualifying criminal record or motor vehicle record as outlined in current contract provisions.
