Visit Support Worker

The Penquis Family Visit Program for Penobscot and Piscataquis Counties is currently seeking both full and part-time Visit Support Workers based in Bangor. The program provides supportive visitation for families working toward family reunification. The program provides a safe and supportive environment for family visits, builds on the strengths of individual family members, and assists with resources and tools to enhance parenting skills and promote positive parent and child interactions.


The Visit Support Worker will coordinate and supervise visits between children and their families, provide parent education, provide appropriate support to children and their parents and ensure compliance with program policies and procedures.


Must be 21 years of age, have a high school diploma/GED and experience working with children and families. Must have reliable transportation and the ability to work flexible hours. Weekends and evenings are required. Must have computer experience and proficiency and strong written, verbal, and organizational skills. Experience providing supervised visitation is a plus. Upon hire and periodically thereafter, must have background check results that are satisfactory to Penquis and indicate no previous or current record of involvement with child abuse, neglect or exploitation and no disqualifying criminal record or motor vehicle record as outlined in current contract provisions. No record of OUI within 5 years, no record of probation or parole within 10 years, and must have no civil, criminal or juvenile restraining orders within 10 years.
