Support Family Well-Being
Penquis, a social services agency serving Penobscot, Piscataquis, and Knox counties for over 50 years, has the following opening for a Family Support Coach.
Location: Rockland, Maine
36 hrs/wk; 52 wks/year (benefits eligible including 14 paid holidays)
As a Family Support Coach, you work directly with clients to provide intensive case management. Through intake and assessment, you collaborate with the family to develop a Family Plan. The Family Plan identifies needs, interests, strengths, goals and services that support family well-being. These include family safety, health, with an added focus on parent and child education and economic stability using the Whole Family/2 Gen approach. The Family Support Coach will advocate, advice, and provide service coordination and follow-up. The successful candidate will be able to creatively problem solve, think outside the box and love to learn. This position requires regular check-ins with families in order to develop positive, trusting relationships. This work includes supporting parents in both one on one and group settings.They must be able to develop and maintain strong community partnerships.
Required qualifications are an Associate’s degree in social work, human services, family services, counseling or a related field. At least two years’ experience working in a social service-based program. Minimum of three years’ experience working with children and families. Previous experience working with families facing parenting challenges; working knowledge of area resources for low-income individuals; excellent verbal and written communication skills; and computer proficiency and experience with Microsoft products, must have a valid driver’s license and reliable, insured transportation. Preferred qualifications are a social worker license and supervisory experience.
The starting rate of pay for the Family Support Coach is $16.41 per hour, and additional compensation may be given consideration with relevant experience. Sign on Incentive of $5000 Available – $1000 payable after successful completion of 2 months, $1500 payable after the successful completion of 6 months, $2500 payable after successful completion of one year of employment. Must be hired before November 18, 2022. Eligible upon hire, new employees in our Early Child Care programs who work 24-40 hours per week, will receive a $200 monthly incentive.
Upon hire and periodically thereafter, must comply with Penquis background check requirements with satisfactory results as outlined in current contract provisions.
