Penquis, a social services agency serving Penobscot, Piscataquis, and Knox counties for over 50 years, is seeking a full-time (40 hours/week; benefits eligible) Administrative Assistant in our Bangor, Maine office within the Housing & Energy Services Department. The ideal candidate will work closely with the Department staff, as well as staff from other departments within Penquis.

Duties include clerical, fiscal, contract reporting, direct client interactions, information and referral, interactions with funding sources, and the ability to work independently and set priorities. You must be able to interact with the public in a professional manner; maintain client information in complete confidence; and learn and apply federal and state regulations. 

This position requires two years post-secondary training in office practices and technology, business, secretarial or other relevant area, or four years’ experience in an office setting that includes word processing, spreadsheet, and data base management; excellent written and verbal communication skills, excellent math/computational skills, and display professional conduct and appearance.

The starting rate of pay for the Administrative Assistant position is $17.81 per hour and additional compensation may be given consideration with relevant experience.

Upon hire and periodically thereafter, must comply with Penquis background check requirements with satisfactory results as outlined in current contract provisions.
