Public School Head Start Assistant Teacher

Penquis, a social services agency serving Penobscot, Piscataquis, and Knox counties for over 50 years, has a opening for a Preschool Assistant Teacher in a Preschool based classroom, at our Morton Avenue location. This position is regular full time and benefits eligible. Classroom hours are 8:00-2:00 Monday-Friday with summers off.

Location: Dover-Foxcroft, Maine

Penquis Child Development will pay for newly hired staff to obtain appropriate credentials or continued educational opportunities. This position assists with the daily needs of children and the activities that provide services to children and families. This position requires a Preschool CDA or Associate’s Degree in Early Childhood Education or completion of one of these credentials within 1 year of hire. The ideal candidate will have paid experience working with young children (practicum experience may be considered), as well as training and experience with social services outreach for families and children.

The starting rate of pay for the Assistant Teacher position is $16.41 per hour and additional compensation may be given consideration with relevant experience. Sign on Incentive of $5000 Available – $1000 payable after successful completion of 2 months, $1500 payable after the successful completion of 6 months, $2500 payable after successful completion of one year of employment. Must be hired before November 18, 2022. Eligible upon hire, new employees in our Early Child Care programs who work 24-40 hours per week, will receive a $200 monthly incentive.

Upon hire and periodically thereafter, must comply with Penquis background check requirements with satisfactory results as outlined in current contract provisions.
