The Penquis Law Project, a small public interest law practice specializing in family law and serving Penobscot and Piscataquis counties, is seeking a full time (40/hour per week) attorney.  Individuals interested in part–time employment are encouraged to apply.  

      The Penquis Law Project provides free civil legal assistance to individuals who have experienced or are experiencing domestic violence, sexual assault, dating violence, and/or stalking and who cannot otherwise afford an attorney.  The successful candidate will be passionate about public interest law and meeting the needs of low income victims/survivors.  The successful candidate will be able to work independently within a small office, offering one-time consultations and full representation, primarily in family matters such as divorce and parental rights.  The successful candidate will also work collaboratively with other community organizations with which we partner to meet the needs of victims/survivors.

Admission to Maine bar and good standing required.  Candidates must have reliable transportation and must be able to demonstrate an interest in and understanding of the dynamics of domestic violence. The starting annual salary for this position is $52,916.
