Child Abuse and Neglect (CAN) Prevention Council for Piscataquis County
Penquis, a social services agency serving Penobscot, Piscataquis and Knox counties for over 50 years, has the following CAN Council Community Educator opening in Dover-Foxcroft, Maine:
20 hrs/week; 52 wks/year (benefits eligible)
This position is part of the Child Abuse and Neglect (CAN) Prevention Council for Piscataquis County. This position is based in our Dover office with travel throughout the county. The Community Educator will deliver year-round evidenced-based parent education; plan, organize and facilitate workshops and presentations regarding child abuse prevention strategies; and connect families to needed resources and services in their communities. Position requires a high school diploma or equivalent, previous work experience with children and families, experience facilitating groups and flexible working hours, such as 2-3 evenings a week and occasional weekends as necessary. Preferred qualifications include an Associate’s Degree in Social Work or related field. Working knowledge of local resources for families and effective written and strong verbal communication skills are a necessity. Reliable and insured transportation is required.
The starting rate of pay for the CAN Council Community Educator position is $17.81/hour and additional compensation may be given consideration with relevant experience.
Upon hire and periodically thereafter, must comply with Penquis background check requirements with satisfactory results as outlined in current contract provisions.
