Public School PreK/Head Start Collaborative
Penquis, a social services agency serving Penobscot, Piscataquis, and Knox counties for over 50 years, has an opening for a Center Aide to working a public school PreK/Head Start collaborative.
Location: Brewer, Maine
35 hours per week; 42 weeks per year (benefits eligible)
Penquis Child Development will pay for newly hired staff to obtain appropriate credentials or continued educational opportunities. This position assists with greeting children, getting them settled into the facility, assisting with classroom and playground supervision, and other daily activities related to the operation of the classroom, including light cleaning duties. Requires a minimum of a high school diploma or equivalent, ME DOE Ed Tech I certification, basic reading, writing and math skills, and the ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds. An Associate’s Degree in Early Childhood Education or CDA in Preschool and paid experience working with children are preferred.
The starting rate of pay for the Center Aide is $15.48 per hour, and additional compensation may be given consideration with relevant experience.
Eligible upon hire, new employees in our Early Child Care programs who work 24-40 hours per week- Sign on Incentive of $5000 Available – $1000 payable after successful completion of 2 months, $1500 payable after the successful completion of 6 months, $2500 payable after successful completion of one year of employment. Must be hired before November 18, 2022.
Upon hire and periodically thereafter, must comply with Penquis background check requirements with satisfactory results as outlined in current contract provisions.
