Article Title: Community Efforts to Support You During COVID-19

  • Maine People's Alliance

Maine People’s Alliance is putting together a system to help people get prescriptions, groceries and other needed supplies as well rides to medical appointments if needed.  They have created a portal where people can donate money, sign up to volunteer, note that they need assistance of some kind, or that they feel sick.    For people without internet access or uncomfortable with technology they can contact Rob Laraway, the community organizer in charge of this area, directly at:  603-520-0631

  • Backing Bangor Sponsored by Sutherland and Weston

Backing Bangor has created two options to explore: resources for how people can help local businesses and organizations, and how businesses and organizations can receive some support.

    On Facebook

To join in the efforts, all they ask is for you to share on your social media platforms how you are #backingbangor.

  • Resources for Cancer Patients

The Christine B. Foundation (CBF) is responding to the additional burdens the COVID-19 virus has on hundreds of active cancer patients residing in Eastern Maine. CBF, in strong partnership with area food banks and volunteers, plans to take immediate action by safely making home deliveries of meals/food items to cancer patients across Piscataquis, Penobscot, Hancock, and Washington County.

  • Aging Adults

Maine Council on Aging is devoted to sharing the latest information and resources available to ensure the health and safety of older Mainers.  We continue to compile information, best practices, resources and tools available to share with older adults, aging service providers, emergency medical services, municipalities, aging in place communities, and other networks serving older adults across the state.  Please check back regularly as we will be updating as new information becomes available.
