Penquis, a social services agency serving Penobscot, Piscataquis, and Knox counties for 54 years is currently seeking a full-time (40 hours/week; benefits eligible) Compliance Director to fill a vacancy due to retirement within our Corporate Services department in Bangor. As a member of the Executive Leadership Team, you report to the Chief Financial Officer and work in concert with Chief Officers and Executive Leadership team members to develop, monitor, and oversee the agency’s Enterprise Risk Management (ERM) program. Ensuring a strong corporate compliance and quality control program, preserving and supporting the ERM culture within the agency. The primary and essential duty of the position is to keep the ethical integrity of the Agency intact. This position ensures that business and program activities of the organization are implemented within required regulatory framework. The Compliance Director leads the risk management process by effectively planning programs and re-enforcing appropriate policies and regulations within the organization.
The Compliance Director is responsible for monitoring and evaluating various lines of business and cross functional activities performed across similar areas and identifying and supporting effective and sustainable risk management processes across the organization. The Compliance Director collaborates with the Leadership Team to recommend and implement compliance risk processes that comply with regulatory, policy, program, and business activity requirements. These activities include but are not limited to, scheduling and overseeing internal and external non-financial audits of contracts, grants and binding documents to ensure compliance with applicable regulations, accreditation standards, licensing requirements along with Penquis and affiliate by-laws, policies and practices.
The ideal candidate will have a Bachelor’s degree or equivalent with a combination of 7-10 years of training and experience that demonstrates capability of organizing and carrying out the tasks described above at the executive level. Must have experience with compliance review; state and federal program rules and regulations; enterprise risk management and software. Collaborative working style with the capabilities to drive advancement of compliance and ERM programs agency-wide. Demonstrated personal qualities of maturity and discretion. Ability to maintain high level of confidentiality, ability to work independently, demonstrate initiative, provide leadership, prioritize multiple projects, meet deadlines, and thrive in a fast-paced diversified workplace. Computer proficiency and familiarity with spreadsheet, database, and word processing packages. The salary range for this position is $71,668- $107,502 commensurate with experience and qualifications.
