Join our Team! Penquis, a social services agency serving Penobscot, Piscataquis, and Knox counties for over 50 years, is currently seeking a full-time (40 hours/week; benefits eligible) Deputy Department Director in the Family Enrichment Services (FES) department. Through personal and community support, education, early childhood education, violence prevention and intervention, mental and behavioral health services, and appropriate linkages, FES supports each family, parent, individual and the community to reach physical, emotional and economic health.  The Deputy Department Director will assist the Department Director to lead the FES department, integrating a group of programs or activities into single service delivery system.

Location: Bangor, Maine

Deputy Director Responsibilities:

  • Integrate departmental activities and share responsibility for staff and community participation in the development and implementation of departmental services.
  • Building and maintaining a unified Penquis presence by initiating and maintaining relationships with all Penquis constituencies; fostering a public policy environment favorable to Penquis and increase interactive, coordinated service delivery between Penquis departments and programs.
  • Participate in department development and grantsmanship.
  • Monitor daily operations of FES programs.
  • Manage direct service personnel and assigned staff.
  • Meet responsibilities for assigned program(s) and contract(s) including all work plans, regulations, funding source and reporting requirements.
  • Function as the Department Director in their absence.

Deputy Director Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Human Services, Social Services, or related field, and 5-7 years of related work experience, which includes direct service and staff supervision.
  • 2 years of work experience which was supervisory or administrative in nature.
  • License or licensable, or certified or certifiable, in appropriate field, if required.
  • Upon hire and periodically thereafter, must comply with Penquis background check requirements with satisfactory results as outlined in current contract provisions.

The salary range for this position is $ 72,744-$109, 115 commensurate with experience and qualifications. Those with related education and experience are encouraged to apply.  Applications will be accepted until August 7th
