Join our Team! Penquis, a social services agency serving Penobscot, Piscataquis, and Knox counties for over 50 years, is currently seeking a full-time (40 hours/week; benefits eligible) Financial Coaching Generalist.  AsFinancial Coaching Generalist, you are part of a team within the Housing & Energy Services Department, that is responsible for initiating, developing and providing outreach, training and support to microenterprises, potential homeowners and low-income families in need of financial coaching or to the partners who support these clients. This position covers Penobscot, Piscataquis, Knox, Waldo, Hancock and Washington counties. Travel to these counties will be as needed. This will be a hybrid position with the opportunity to work from home with requirements of weekly in-office hours.

 Financial Coaching Generalist Responsibilities

  • Provide education and counsel potential homeowners on first time home buying; educate and counsel individuals interested in starting a business.
  • Coordinate with partners and deliver training programs.
  • Establish and maintain relationships with community members, economic development personnel, realtors, bankers, small business owners, trainers, local chamber, nonprofit partners, local government agencies, educational institutions, and other small business specialists.
  • Provide appropriate referral and information, upon request.

 Financial Coaching Generalist Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration, Education, or related field and 2-3 years’ experience in counseling or training for businesses, home ownership, or financial coaching, or equivalent experience in counseling or training for businesses, home ownership, or financing coaching.
  • Must have excellent math/computational skills, extreme attention to detail, excellent written and verbal communication skills and computer proficiency and experience with word processing programs. 
  • Must be willing to travel and have reliable, insured transportation.
  • Must be able to interact with the public in a professional manner and maintain client information in complete confidence.
  • Upon hire and periodically thereafter, must comply with Penquis background check requirements with satisfactory results as outlined in current contract provisions.

The salary range for this position is $45,168-67,752 commensurate with experience and qualifications. Those with related education and experience are encouraged to apply.
