Penquis, a social services agency serving Penobscot, Piscataquis, and Knox counties for 50 years is currently seeking a full-time (40 hours per week for 52 weeks; benefits eligible) Housing Navigators within our Housing & Energy Services Department, for a two-year pilot program serving Knox, Waldo, Penobscot and Piscataquis Counties.
Located: Bangor, Maine
As the Housing Navigator, you work with Department Management, a team of colleagues and partner organizations to support individuals and families homeless or at risk of homelessness find stable housing. You develop partnerships with landlords and property managers to increase participant access to housing units that are desirable and sustainable over time within the participant’s resources located in Knox, Waldo, Penobscot and Piscataquis Counties. You serve as a single point of contact for landlords and property managers, recruiting and retaining landlords and property managers to participate in this program. You work in a fast-paced environment, work independently and adjust priorities as needed. Travel is required throughout the four-county service area.
Requirements include an Associate’s degree in the social services or related field, 3 – 5 years’ work experience working directly with clients, able to work flexible hours, computer proficiency with word processing and spreadsheet programs, ability to work with a diverse population, excellent verbal and written communication skills, ability to manage multiple sites simultaneously. Must have a valid Maine Driver’s License and use of a reliable vehicle insured to State requirements.
The starting rate of pay for the Housing Navigator – Landlord Engagement position is $19.55 per hour and additional compensation may be given consideration with relevant experience.
Upon hire and periodically thereafter, must comply with Penquis background check requirements with satisfactory results as outlined in current contract provisions.
