Maine Families Home Visiting Program
Penquis, a social services agency serving Penobscot, Piscataquis, and Knox counties for over 50 years, is
seeking a full-time (40 hours/week; benefits eligible) position for an individual to be part of a progressive and innovative team within its Maine Families Home Visiting Program.
Location: Bangor, Maine
Come be part of a nationally endorsed Home Visiting program that has achieved Blue Ribbon status through Parents as Teachers and is recognized for providing evidenced based services to families. Family Visitors provide comprehensive, home visiting services to families with children from prenatal to age 3. As a Family Visitor, you will work with expectant parents and parents of young children in their homes, helping families to understand their child’s development and support parental/child attachment. We believe that parents are a child’s first and best teacher, and we support parental development by building on the family’s strengths.
Requirements include Bachelor’s Degree in Early Childhood Education, Social Work or related field and one-year paid experience working with young children, birth to 6 years old. Experience in home visitation and knowledge of infant and child development. The position requires the ability to work well independently as well as with other staff, strong organizational, computer, interpersonal and communication skills and the ability to work with a wide variety of people in different circumstances. Must have a valid Maine Driver’s License and use of a vehicle insured to State requirements. Experience in providing case management and work with prenatal clients preferred.
The starting rate of pay for the position is $19.26 per hour and additional compensation may be given consideration with relevant experience.
Upon hire and periodically thereafter, must have background check results that are satisfactory to Penquis and indicate no previous or current record of involvement with child abuse, neglect or exploitation and no other disqualifying background as outlined in current contract provisions.
