Penquis, a social services agency serving Penobscot, Piscataquis, and Knox counties for over 50 years, is seeking a fulltime Nurse Educator based in our Dover-Foxcroft location with travel to program sites as needed. This position provides medical and clinical education to our employees who support individuals with a diagnosis of behavioral health, developmental disability or brain injury. The person will be responsible for coordination and oversight of medication administration programs and health related issues.
The successful candidate will be responsible for teaching and assuring compliance with the medication administration guidelines outlined in the State of Maine CRMA regulation by providing staff education and training; quality assurance and medical consultation as needed. The successful candidate will work in a team approach to assure quality services for clients in a caring and supportive environment.
Required qualifications include active Registered Nurse License; minimum of four years of experience working directly with people either in long term care, assisted living, and residential setting or in home setting; experience administering medications; experience teaching or providing training; excellent interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills; proficient computer skills; a valid driver’s license; and reliable, insured transportation. Upon hire and periodically thereafter, must have background check results that are satisfactory to Penquis and indicate no previous or current record of involvement with child abuse, neglect or exploitation and no disqualifying criminal record or motor vehicle record as outlined in current contract provisions.
