Join our Family Enrichment Team! Penquis, a social services agency serving Penobscot, Piscataquis, and Knox counties for over 50 years, is currently seeking a Community Educator within the Child Abuse and Neglect Prevention Council. (CAN Council) As the Community Educator you develop plans to implement priority components of parent education curriculum throughout Penobscot county. This position is based in our Bangor office with travel throughout Penobscot county.
Location: Bangor, Maine
24 hrs. per week (benefits eligible) with the ability at times for full-time hours.
Community Educator Responsibilities:
- Organize and facilitate evidence-based parent education.
- Organize and facilitate training for professionals.
- Connect families to needed resources and services in their communities.
- Increase community awareness around strengthening families through various community activities.
- Organize playgroups and events throughout Penobscot County.
- Attend events where outreach is needed (health fairs, school orientation events, etc.)
Community Educator Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree in social work, Education, or related field.
- Previous experience with children and families and experience facilitating groups.
- Flexible working hours are strongly desired.
- Strong interpersonal, organizational, and time-management skills. Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Must have a valid State of Maine driver’s license in good standing and reliable insured transportation.
- Upon hire and periodically thereafter, must comply with Penquis background check requirements with satisfactory results as outlined in current contract provisions.

The starting rate of pay for the Community Educator position is $21.04 per hour and additional compensation may be given consideration with relevant experience.
