Join our Team! Penquis, a social services agency serving Penobscot and Piscataquis counties for over 50 years, is currently seeking a full-time (40 hours per week; benefits eligible) Domestic Violence Intervention Program (DVIP) Coordinator. As the Domestic Violence Intervention Program (DVIP) Coordinator, you supervise staff provide group facilitation, and complete administrative tasks. This position is a hybrid/remote position, with in office days (Tuesday Bangor location, Thursday Dover Foxcroft location).

What is DVIP? Domestic Violence Intervention Program – DVIP is a 48-week certified program that helps males who have committed domestic violence address their abusive behaviors. Educational classes follow a standardized format to help participants confront abusive behavior and support a way of thinking and reacting that is free of power and control.  The goal of DVIP is to improve victim safety.

Program Coordinator Responsibilities:

  • Oversee day-to-day operations of the program including, but not limited to: Ensure compliance with contract standards; oversee the coordination and implementation of all program components.
  • Provide routine direct involvement in all recruiting, hiring, orienting, evaluation, and disciplining of assigned staff. Develop and implement training and skills acquisition opportunities for staff.
  • Maintain knowledge of all DVIP program standards and best practices ensuring that the program is complying.
  • Collaborate with local Domestic Violence Resource Centers and/or the Department of Corrections to monitor group sessions. Participate in discussions regarding any potential issues with participants or victim safety.
  • Conduct screenings and intakes on candidates for the group in cooperation with the Department of Corrections and Department of Health and Human Services (DHHS).
  • Maintains adequate data tracking and reporting systems, progress notes, monthly probation reports, EmpowOR and Foothold entries, and monthly reduce rate reports submitted to Maine Coalition to End Domestic Violence. 
  • Facilitate Domestic Violence Intervention Groups according to the state guidelines and the State approved model of domestic violence intervention program.

Program Coordinator Requirements:

  • Associate’s degree in mental health, social work, or related field with 3-5 years paid work experience which included direct service and staff.  
  • At least one year facilitating DVIP groups, preferred.
  • Ability to maintain a high level of confidentiality.
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks in an organized manner with attention to detail and ability to follow through with assigned duties.
  • Must have valid Maine driver’s license that meets the agency insurance carrier qualifications and may require insured reliable transportation.
  • Upon hire and periodically thereafter, must comply with Penquis background check requirements with satisfactory results as outlined in current contract provisions.

The starting rate of pay for the Program Coordinator position is $21.67 per hour and additional compensation may be given consideration with relevant experience.
