Penquis, a social services agency serving Penobscot, Piscataquis, and Knox counties for over 50 years, is seeking a full time (40 hours per week) Project Coordinator for the Host Homes Program.

Location: Dover-Foxcroft, Maine

This individual will have the opportunity to work directly with youth/young adults who are homeless or at risk of homelessness.  Additionally, they will assist in community outreach to raise program awareness, collaborate with a network of providers across the state to engage in the Continuum of Care system and support the ongoing involvement of community-based host homes in the 5 identified school districts- Dexter, Guilford, Greenville, Milo and Dover-Foxcroft.  The Host Homes program will support youth and young adults 12-24 years of age by finding appropriate supports and placements at the developed Host Homes, accessing needed resources and supporting identified goals while gaining stability. 

Required qualifications include High School diploma with a minimum of three years’ experience volunteering and/or working with and for young people, specifically in the areas of youth development, or direct social services; experience working with teens or at-risk youth and with family systems.  Must have excellent written and verbal communications skills, have a good understanding of conflict resolution skills and/or mediation skills and trauma informed approach for working with young people.  Upon hire and periodically thereafter, must have background check results that are satisfactory to Penquis and indicate no previous or current record of involvement with child abuse, neglect or exploitation and no disqualifying criminal record or motor vehicle record as outlined in current contract provisions.   Must have reliable transportation and the ability to work flexible hours based on program needs.

Preferred qualifications include experience working within the school setting and collaborating with community groups and providers. Lived experience is also a valued qualification, which will be considered.

The starting rate of pay for the Project Coordinator – Host Homes Program position is $19.55 per hour and additional compensation may be given consideration with relevant experience.
