Penquis, a social services agency serving Penobscot, Piscataquis, and Knox counties for over 50 years is currently seeking a part-time (24-32 hours/week, benefit eligible) Project Coordinator to work out of our Rockland office. The Project Coordinator will work directly with youth 12 to 21 years of age who are homeless or at risk of homelessness in Knox and Waldo Counties.
The Project Coordinator will conduct community outreach and provide support services to homeless youth. Services are youth driven and youth set and monitor their own goals. Support services provided include working with youth to develop a service plan, identify goals, assist in accessing needed resources and develop skills for greater self-sufficiency. The Project Coordinator will collaborate with an existing network of providers, including schools, to develop and maintain community partnerships in order to help meet the needs of the participants. The successful candidate will enjoy working with and connecting to youth.
Must have experience working with teens, at risk youth and family systems. Minimum requirements for the position are a high school diploma and at least three years of experience in volunteering and/or working with and for young people, specifically in the areas of self-advocacy, youth development, youth leadership or direct social services. Also required are computer proficiency; willingness and ability to work flexible hours; and excellent written and verbal communication skills. Experience providing community outreach and knowledge of local resources preferred. Must have insured, reliable transportation.
Upon hire and periodically thereafter, must have background check results that are satisfactory to Penquis and indicate no previous or current record of involvement with child abuse, neglect or exploitation and no disqualifying criminal record or motor vehicle record as outlined in current contract provisions.
