Family Time Coaching is an innovative program with a new approach to serving children and families who are in the care of the Department of Health and Human Services (DHHS).  The program focuses on the strengths of families and the unique needs of children in order to promote successful reunification. This team provides intensive home and community-based therapeutic skill building to parents, with a focus on empowerment, empathy, responsiveness and active parenting while maintaining child safety.

We are looking for a licensed Psychologist to join a team consisting of five bachelors level Visit Coaching Workers (VCWs) and two LCSW Supervisors (VSW).  This is a 32-40 hour position based in our Bangor office.  The Psychologist provides parental capacity assessments (PCAs) which are forensic assessments to help determine the ability of the parent to meet the emotional, developmental and physical needs of their children.  The assessment focuses on the parent’s ability to parent as well as the attachment of the children. Every family in our program receives this assessment. The Psychologist will use their expertise and skills to develop an assessment that provides DHHS with specialized knowledge and clinical information to support decision making in child protective services cases.  In addition to providing the assessment, the Psychologist will consult with the LCSW supervisory team to provide clinical guidance surrounding the families’ needs as well as provide supports and training to the entire staff team regarding best practices when working with at-risk families.

The successful candidate must be licensed in Maine; have experience with Microsoft word and excel; and have reliable, insured transportation and proof of automobile insurance. The right candidate will preferably have documented experience working with children and families and providing PCAs.
