This position is responsible for preschool age children (3-5 years old) in a Head Start setting, following an evidence-based curriculum, implementing developmentally appropriate activities, including individual prescriptive programs for children with special needs. This position requires a Bachelor’s Degree in Early Childhood Education, Child Development, or related field with 36 credit hours in ECE and two years paid experience in a childcare setting. (Appropriate practicum experience may be substituted for two years paid experience in an early education/childcare setting). Bachelor’s Degree in Early Childhood Special Education preferred. If you do not have the required qualifications, Penquis Child Development can support newly hired staff in a professional development plan to acquire the appropriate credentials.
The starting rate for the Teacher position is $19.26 per hour and additional compensation will be given consideration with relevant experience. Early Child Care program employees who work 24-40 hours per week, Sign on Incentive of $5000 Available – $1000 payable after successful completion of 2 months, $1500 payable after the successful completion of 6 months, $2500 payable after successful completion of one year of employment. Must be hired before October 1, 2022. Eligible upon hire*, employees will also receive a $200 monthly incentive. *hired means actively working.
Upon hire and periodically thereafter, must comply with Penquis background check requirements with satisfactory results as outlined in current contract provisions.
