Public School PreK/Head Start Collaborative
Penquis, a social services agency serving Penobscot, Piscataquis, and Knox counties for over 50 years, has the following Preschool Teacher opening at our public school PreK/Head Start collaborative setting.
Location: Rockland, Maine
38 hours per week, 42 weeks per year (benefits eligible)
Penquis Child Development will pay for newly hired staff to obtain appropriate credentials or continued educational opportunities. This position is responsible for children in a public school PreK/Head Start collaborative setting, implementing an evidence-based preschool curriculum and administering developmentally appropriate activities, including individual prescriptive programs for children with special needs. Requires a Bachelor’s Degree in Early Childhood Education or Child Development (or related field with 36 credit hours in ECE); two years paid experience in a child care setting (appropriate practicum experience may be substituted for two years paid experience in an early education/child care setting) and ME DOE “081” teacher certification.
The starting rate of pay for the Teacher position is $20.14 per hour and additional compensation will be given consideration with relevant experience.
Eligible upon hire, new employees in our Early Child Care programs who work 24-40 hours per week, Sign on Incentive of $5000 Available – $1000 payable after successful completion of 2 months, $1500 payable after the successful completion of 6 months, $2500 payable after successful completion of one year of employment. Must be hired before November 18, 2022. *hired means actively working.
Upon hire and periodically thereafter, must comply with Penquis background check requirements with satisfactory results as outlined in current contract provisions.
