Penquis, a social services agency serving Penobscot, Piscataquis, and Knox counties for over 50 years, has a Preschool Teacher opening at our public school PreK/Head Start collaborative based setting.
Located: Rockland, Maine
36 hours per week, 41 weeks per year (benefits eligible)
This position is responsible for children in a public school PreK/Head Start collaborative setting, implementing an evidence-based preschool curriculum and administering developmentally appropriate activities, including individual prescriptive programs for children with special needs. Requires a Bachelor’s Degree in Early Childhood Education or Child Development (or related field with 36 credit hours in ECE); two years paid experience in a child care setting (appropriate practicum experience may be substituted for two years paid experience in an early education/child care setting) and ME DOE “081” teacher certification. If you do not have the required qualifications, Penquis Child Development can support newly hired staff in a professional development plan to acquire the appropriate credentials.
The starting rate of pay for the Teacher position is $19.26 per hour and additional compensation will be given consideration with relevant experience. Sign on Incentive of $1000 Available – $500 payable after successful completion of 90 days, $500 payable after successful completion of one year of employment. Must be hired before July 29, 2022. Eligible upon hire, new employees in our Early Child Care programs who work 24-40 hours per week, will receive a $200 monthly incentive.
Upon hire and periodically thereafter, must comply with Penquis background check requirements with satisfactory results as outlined in current contract provisions.
