The Penquis Family Visit Program for Penobscot and Piscataquis Counties is currently seeking numerous part-time or per-diem Visit Support Workers based in Bangor with opportunities to work out of Dover Foxcroft and Lincoln. The program provides a safe and supportive environment for family visits, builds on the strengths of individual family members, and assists with resources and tools to enhance parenting skills and promote positive parent and child interactions.
The Visit Support Worker will coordinate and supervise visits between children and their families, provide parent education, provide appropriate support to children and their parents and ensure compliance with program policies and procedures.
Must be 21 years of age, have a high school diploma/GED and experience working with children and families. Must have reliable transportation and the ability to work flexible hours. Weekends and evenings are required. Must be proficient with using a computer and strong written, verbal, and organizational skills. Experience providing supervised visitation is a plus. As required by business necessity, upon hire and periodically thereafter, must have clean background checks through the State Bureau of Investigation, Maine Department of Human Services, and/or Maine Bureau of Motor Vehicles which indicate no previous record of involvement with child abuse or crimes against a person, no record of OUI within 5 years, no record of probation or parole within 10 years, and must have no criminal or juvenile restraining orders within 10 years.
