Job Overview
Penquis is seeking a part-time Behavioral Health Professional (BHP) to work with children and young adults through hands-on skill building and community-based support. This role focuses on helping clients build confidence, practice daily living skills, and develop greater independence through interactive activities and outings.
Responsibilities
- Use games and activities to teach directions and healthy emotional responses.
- Use video clips and other tools to practice non-verbal communication skills.
- Support community outings that build safety skills and positive friendships.
- Teach money skills and independent community interactions during errands and outings.
- Practice meal planning and cooking skills with clients.
- Help clients learn self-soothing strategies and how to ask for help.
Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Valid Maine driver's license in good standing with reliable transportation and automobile insurance.
- Access to a cell phone or smartphone.
- Ability to meet Penquis background-check requirements upon hire and periodically thereafter, with satisfactory results as required by current contract provisions.
