Have a passion for working with children? Join our Early Head Start/Head Start team, providing early childhood education services. Penquis, a social services agency serving Penobscot, Piscataquis, and Knox counties for over 50 years, is currently seeking a full-time Preschool Center Aide. As the Center Aide, you assist with activities involved in the daily operation of a childcare facility or preschool classroom. Hours & Location: Full-time (36 hours per week, 42 weeks a year) located at Katahdin Child Development Center in East Millinocket.

Responsibilities

• Welcome children and help them settle into the classroom environment.
• Assist with classroom and playground supervision, daily activities, and light cleaning duties.
• Maintain the confidentiality of client files and information.

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent and up to 12 months of experience.
• Ability to read, write, and perform basic math functions.
• Ability to obtain an age-appropriate Child Development Accreditation within the first 12 months of classroom assignment.
• Ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds.
• Ability to work directly with children from birth to age 5, including managing age-typical noise levels and behaviors.
• Ability to meet Penquis background-check requirements upon hire and periodically thereafter, with satisfactory results as required by current contract provisions.
