Family Development Account (FDA)

Family Development Account (FDA) is a matched savings program that can help eligible households save toward approved goals.

A Family Development Account, or FDA, is a savings account with a match. For every dollar saved, the FDA Coalition matches four additional dollars.

Current Savings Goals

  • Starting or expanding a small business.
  • Buying a home.

Eligibility Notes

  • Earned income from a job or self-employment is required.
  • Social Security, disability, and child support do not count as earned income.
  • Household income must be below 200% of the federal poverty line.

Penquis/MaineStream is the administrative body for the statewide Family Development Account program and FDA Coalition.
