Program & Service
Volunteer Income Tax Assistance (VITA)
Free tax filing help for eligible individuals, provided by trained volunteers.
Who We Are
The Volunteer Income Tax Assistance (VITA) program offers free tax filing services for eligible individuals and households. Trained volunteers help prepare and file tax returns at no cost, making tax season less stressful and helping participants access refunds and credits they may be eligible for.
Who Is Eligible
Eligibility for VITA services is based on current tax-season guidelines. Income limits and filing requirements may change from year to year, so households should confirm current eligibility before scheduling tax preparation assistance.
In general, VITA services may be available to households that meet income guidelines and have tax situations that can be handled through the program. Some returns may be outside the scope of VITA services, including certain types of business income, rental income, farm income, military tax situations, foreign student or trainee visa situations, or other complex tax circumstances.
Before Scheduling
Households should confirm current income guidelines, required documents, and filing eligibility for the current tax season before receiving assistance.
