The Penquis Law Project is a small, public-interest law practice providing services for low-income individuals who would otherwise be without counsel by providing legal assistance in family law matters, including divorce, parental rights and responsibilities, and protection from abuse. The Law Project currently serves residents of the Penobscot and Piscataquis counties, with priority given to those individuals or families who have experienced, or are experiencing, domestic violence, sexual assault, and/or stalking.
The Law Project offers one-time consultations to those who qualify, as well as representation when available and appropriate. At a one-time consultation, individuals may receive general legal information, advice, and help filling out court forms.
Please note that our attorney is available by appointment only. If you are not yet a client of the Law Project, we ask you to please call us so that we can do an intake over the telephone. To go through our intake process or schedule an appointment, please call 207-973-3671. If you get our voicemail, please leave your name and the best phone number to reach you at. Calls are returned in the order they are received and we will make every attempt to return your call within three (3) business days. However, we often experience a very high call volume, and it may take a little longer to get back to you. The Law Project has office hours in Bangor and Dover-Foxcroft.
