Penquis, a social services agency that has been supporting Penobscot, Piscataquis, and Knox counties for over 50 years, is looking for a full-time (40 hours per week; eligible for benefits) Project Coordinator. As the Project Coordinator you will have the opportunity to work directly with youth who are struggling with housing insecurity or at imminent risk of being without a home. Additionally, you will assist in community outreach to raise program awareness, collaborate with a network of providers across the state to engage in the Continuum of Care system and support the ongoing involvement of community-based host homes in the 5 identified school districts- Dexter, Guilford, Greenville, Milo and Dover-Foxcroft. Location: Dover-Foxcroft, Maine

This role is primarily based within the schools we support, with a focus on building strong relationships with enrolled youth and approved host families. It is a community-centered position, with some duties performed remotely.

Project Coordinator Responsibilities:

  • You are responsible for outreach within the community to raise program awareness; Host Home recruitment, training, and support; and direct services to program participants.
  • Support youth and young adults 12-24 years of age by finding appropriate support and placements at the developed Host Homes, accessing needed resources and supporting identified goals while gaining stability.
  • Coordinate and provide direct implementation of YHDP (Youth Homeless Demonstration Project), including recruit Host Home placements.
  • Provide necessary training opportunities for Host Home members.
  • Identify youth in need of support and recruit youth participants.
  • Network with schools, other youth serving providers, community groups, and public services to build awareness of programs.
  • Participate in training and meetings, as assigned, which may include including statewide Continuum of Care meetings and YHDP grantee meetings.

Project Coordinator Requirements:

  • Associate’s degree and 2-3 years’ experience volunteering and/or working with and for young people, specifically in the areas of self-advocacy, youth development, youth leadership or direct social services.
  • 1-2 years of documented experience working with children and families.
  • Strong interpersonal, organizational, and computer skills.
  • Upon hire and periodically thereafter, must comply with Penquis background check requirements with satisfactory results as outlined in current contract provisions.

The rate of pay for this position starts at $20.85 per hour, and additional compensation may be given consideration with relevant experience.
