Penquis pays for all required certifications, on the job training and support.

Penquis, a social services agency serving Penobscot, Piscataquis and Knox counties for over 50 years, is currently seeking candidates to work part-time as a BHP in a variety of towns within Penobscot, Piscataquis, Kennebec and Somerset counties.  Some specific locations include; Anson, Bangor, Bradford, Camden, Carmel, Corinth, Cornville, Dover-Foxcroft, Hartland, Madison, Newburgh, Newport, Old Town, Orrington, Skowhegan, St. Albans, Waterville, Winslow and Vassalboro.

As a BHP, you will work one on one with children and young adults between the ages of 3 and 20 with developmental disabilities or skill deficits, in both their home and community environments. BHPs assist clients with increasing their communication skills, social skills and daily living skills by implementing specific treatment goals.

The minimum qualifications are; HS Diploma or equivalent, driver’s license in good standing and reliable insured transportation.  Must have good communication skills, a desire to make a difference and enjoy working with children, the ability to function independently while performing job responsibilities and the ability to work flexible hours based on client needs.

Penquis provides paid training for all required certifications as well as on the job training and support.  The starting rate of pay for BHP is $15.55 per hour

Upon hire and periodically thereafter, must have background check results that are satisfactory to Penquis and indicate no previous or current involvement with child abuse, neglect or exploitation and no other disqualifying background as outlined in current contract provisions.
