Penquis, a social services agency serving Penobscot, Piscataquis, and Knox counties for more than 50 years, is seeking a Forensic Interviewer to join its Children’s Advocacy Center (CAC) team. Children’s Advocacy Centers are facility-based programs that provide a coordinated, multidisciplinary, and child-centered approach to the investigation of child sexual abuse.
In this role, the Forensic Interviewer will conduct timely, legally sound, and trauma-informed forensic interviews with children while adhering to nationally recognized best practices. We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate professional to join our Children’s Advocacy Center team in either a full-time or part-time capacity.
Location: Bangor, Maine
Forensic Interviewer Responsibilities:
- Responsible for coordinating and providing Forensic Interviews at the Children’s Advocacy Center (CAC) for Penobscot and Piscataquis counties.
- Will work closely with members of the multi-disciplinary team (MDT) including law enforcement, the District Attorney’s office and child protective services.
- Facilitate meetings with the MDT prior and after the forensic interview.
- Assist in the day-to-day operation of the CAC.
- Participate in MDT meetings, case review and other community meetings and outreach efforts on behalf of the CAC.
- Participate in Forensic Interviewer peer review.
- Work closely with staff at Rape Response Services (RRS), a subsidiary of Penquis, and collaborate to ensure all victims of sexual violence receive the highest quality services, including assisting with on call.
- Assist the program manager with case tracking, documentation and policy review and will assist the Family Advocate as needed.
- Testify in civil hearings and criminal trials regarding their interviews, as applicable.
Forensic Interviewer Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree and 1-2 years of volunteer or work experience providing direct supports to clients.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Must have initiative and ability to work both independently and collaborate with a team.
- A personal philosophy in keeping with the program’s goals and objectives.
- Understanding of clinical, legal and/or political issues related to sexual assault.
- Willingness to work flexible and on-call hours.
- Ongoing out of state training and travel may be required.
- Maine driver’s license with reliable, insured transportation.
- Upon hire and periodically thereafter, must comply with Penquis background check requirements with satisfactory results as outlined in current contract provisions.

The current pay range for the Forensic Interviewer is $22.12 – $30.96 per hour.
