Children’s Advocacy Center
Located: Bangor, Maine
The Penquis Children’s Advocacy Center (CAC) is looking for an amazing individual to join their team at our Bangor, Maine office. CAC’s are facility-based programs which provide an effective, multi-disciplinary, child-centered approach to child sexual abuse investigation.
The Forensic Interviewer will be responsible for providing forensic interviews of children that are timely, legally sound, trauma-informed and comply with best practices. This position is full time (36-40 hours per week; benefit eligible) and will include weekday, night and weekend hours and may require travel throughout Penobscot and Piscataquis counties.
The Forensic Interviewer will act in accordance with all policies, protocols and national accreditation standards. The Forensic Interviewer will work closely with members of our multi-disciplinary team including law enforcement, the District Attorney’s office and child protective services. The successful candidate will help to coordinate monthly multi-disciplinary team meetings and monthly case review, as well as participate in other community meetings and outreach efforts on behalf of the CAC.
This position will work closely with staff at Rape Response Services (RRS), a subsidiary of Penquis, and collaborate to ensure all victims of sexual violence receive the highest quality services. Must have initiative and ability to work independently; must be willing to work flexible hours; and will need to have a State of Maine driver’s license in good standing along with reliable, insured transportation. The Forensic Interviewer must be available for on call shifts for RRS, including nights and weekends.
Applicants applying for the position must have a high school diploma and at least five years of related experience. A Bachelor’s Degree in Social Work, Human Services or a related field and at least one year of specifically related experience are preferred. Also required are a personal philosophy in keeping with the program’s goals and objectives and an understanding of clinical, legal and/or political issues related to sexual assault. Out of state training and travel may be required.
The starting rate of pay for the Forensic Interviewer position is $19.84 per hour and additional compensation may be given consideration with relevant experience.
Upon hire and periodically thereafter, must comply with Penquis background check requirements with satisfactory results as outlined in current contract provisions.
