Penquis, a social services agency serving Penobscot, Piscataquis and Knox counties for over 50 years, has an opening for a per-diem (6-10 hours) Group Facilitator position in our Domestic Violence Intervention Program (DVIP).

Location: Rockland, Maine

The mission of the group is to teach men how to identify, challenge, and change their core beliefs that support the use of violence with their intimate partners. These are educational classes following a standardized format to confront abusive behavior and help support a way of thinking and reacting that is free of power and control. DVIP classes are run by two co-facilitators, a male and a female. They conduct class according to the program’s curriculum, maintaining the program’s standards, and completing appropriate documentation, under the supervision of the Program Coordinator. Group classes are held in the late afternoons and evenings. 

Required qualifications high school diploma or equivalent, must be able to complete the State domestic violence intervention training within the required time-frame. Must have reliable transportation and a valid State driver’s license in good standing.  Preferred qualifications would be Bachelor’s degree in Criminal Justice, Psychology, and Social Work, and having the National Duluth Facilitator training. The position requires someone who is skilled in group facilitation and has some knowledge of domestic violence. This position is for someone who wants to help end domestic violence. 

The starting rate for the Group Facilitator position is $18.80 per hour and additional compensation will be given consideration with relevant experience.

Upon hire and periodically thereafter, must comply with Penquis background check requirements with satisfactory results as outlined in current contract provisions.
