Join our Dynamic Penquis Team! Penquis, a social services agency serving Penobscot, Piscataquis, and Knox counties for over 50 years, is currently seeking a full-time Housing Development Director.
As the housing Development Director, you are responsible for all aspects of housing project development, project budget management, tenant relations, staff supervision, and operational budget management. As a member of the Executive Leadership team, you work in concert with the Chief Officers and Directors to unify Penquis in its mission and services.
This is a hybrid position based out of the Bangor office.
Location: Bangor, Maine
Housing Development Director Responsibilities:
- Lead and implement the subsidiaries’ corporate planning processes for affordable housing.
- Enhance the lives of low-income consumers and businesses by creating, maintaining and managing safe affordable housing and workspaces.
- Increase resources for the support and expansion of Penquis housing development activities including single family homes.
- Develop new services and resources appropriate to the missions of the Penquis housing development subsidiaries.
- Increase or improve services for clients through public advocacy.
- Continually improve corporate health and standing in the community of Penquis housing development subsidiaries.
Housing Development Director Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree in business management, Non-Profit Management or closely related field, or comparable training and experience, and at least two years of relevant grant writing, project development, and affordable housing market experience.
- Possess extensive experience working with HUD, RD, tax credit and conventional financing mechanisms.
- Sound knowledge of regulatory requirements and accounting standards necessary to successfully manage projects involving combining public and private funding.
- Demonstrated excellent communication, analytical, and sales skills.
- Demonstrated excellent written and verbal communication skills, and excellent interpersonal,
- analytical and supervisory skills.
- Upon hire and periodically thereafter, must comply with Penquis background check requirements with satisfactory results as outlined in current contact provisions.

The salary range for this position starts at $111,403. Those with related education and experience are encouraged to apply.
