Rape Response Services, a subsidiary of Penquis, with offices in Bangor and Dover-Foxcroft, seeks a dynamic individual to work as a full-time (40 hours/week; benefit eligible) HT Housing Navigator – Rape Response Services. This position is based in Bangor with travel required throughout Penobscot and Piscataquis counties.
Location: Bangor, Maine
The successful candidate will provide housing navigation, short-term rental assistance, and support services to victims of human trafficking. They will assist with program development in collaboration with the program manager and project partners. They will engage in outreach efforts to educate and raise awareness about the issue of human trafficking as well as the services provided by RRS and the program. Outreach efforts will include building and maintaining relationships with landlords, other service providers and systems to create referral networks and improve supports for human trafficking survivors. The candidate will participate in an on-call rotation, including nights and weekends, supporting the provision of 24/7 services to victims/survivors.
The successful candidate must have related experience. An Associate’s or Bachelor’s Degree in Social Work, Human Services or a related field is preferred. At least one year of specifically related experience with either housing navigation and/or supporting survivors of human trafficking is required. Candidates with work or volunteer experience providing services and supports to victims of violence are encouraged to apply. Must have a personal philosophy in keeping with the program’s goals and objectives and an understanding of clinical, legal and/or political issues related to sexual assault. Must have initiative and ability to work independently; be capable and willing to work remotely from home; have access to reliable, insured transportation and be willing to travel; flexible work hours and on call shifts, including evening and weekend rotations are a requirement. Proficiency with computer programs such as Zoom, Google Teams/Docs/Slides/Sheets/Forms, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Prezi, and databases are preferred.
The starting rate of pay for the Housing Navigator position is $19.55 per hour
