Provide Direct Services to Individuals Affected by Sexual Violence

Rape Response Services, a subsidiary of Penquis, with offices in Bangor and Dover-Foxcroft, seeks a dynamic individual to work as a part-time, Sexual Assault Advocate – Rape Response Services. This position has hybrid work options; candidate must be able to travel throughout Penobscot and Piscataquis counties to provide services.

Location: Dover-Foxcroft, Maine

Sexual Assault Advocate Responsibilities:

  • Provide direct services to those affected by sexual violence and stalking with a focus on providing support throughout the rural communities in Penobscot and Piscataquis counties.
  • Building and maintaining relationships with other service providers and systems to create referral networks and improve supports for survivors.
  • Provide training to professionals, lead multidisciplinary teams and community awareness events throughout both counties.
  • Participate in an on-call rotation, including nights and weekends, supporting the provision of 24/7 services to victims/survivors.

Sexual Assault Advocate Requirements:

  • Associate’s or Bachelor’s Degree in Social Work, Human Services or a related field and at least one year of specifically related experience are preferred.
  • Personal philosophy in keeping with the program’s goals and objectives and an understanding of clinical, legal and/or political issues related to sexual assault.
  • Work or volunteer experience providing services and supports to victims of violence are encouraged to apply.
  • Must have valid Maine driver’s license and access to reliable, insured transportation and be willing to travel throughout Penobscot and Piscataquis counties; flexible work hours and on call shifts, including evening and weekend rotations are a requirement.
  • Upon hire and periodically thereafter, must comply with Penquis background check requirements with satisfactory results as outlined in current contract provisions.

The starting rate of pay for the Project Coordinator – Rape Response position is $20.43 per hour and additional compensation may be given consideration with relevant experience.
