Penquis, a social services agency serving Penobscot, Piscataquis, and Knox counties for over 50 years, has a Preschool Teacher opening in Katahdin Child Development.

Location: East Millinocket, Maine

38 hrs/wk; 42 wks/year (benefits eligible)

This position is responsible for preschool age children (3-5 years old) in a Head Start setting, following an evidence-based curriculum, implementing developmentally appropriate activities, including individual prescriptive programs for children with special needs. This position requires a Bachelor’s Degree in Early Childhood Education, Child Development, or related field with 36 credit hours in ECE and two years paid experience in a childcare setting. (Appropriate practicum experience may be substituted for two years paid experience in an early education/childcare setting). Bachelor’s Degree in Early Childhood Special Education preferred.  If you do not have the required qualifications, Penquis Child Development can support newly hired staff in a professional development plan to acquire the appropriate credentials. 

The starting rate for the Teacher position is $19.26 per hour and additional compensation will be given consideration with relevant experience. Eligible upon hire, new employees in our Early Child Care programs who work 24-40 hours per week, will receive a $200 monthly incentive.

Upon hire and periodically thereafter, must comply with Penquis background check requirements with satisfactory results as outlined in current contract provisions.
